What’s 7 Minutes? A Short Walk for the Best View in Sexten

A few steps uphill, a deep breath, and panoramic mountain views of Sexten as far as the eye can see: Welcome to Hotel Gruber!

For almost 50 years, our family-run hotel has had its home on the hillside above Sexten.

From up here, we look proudly down into the valley, across our village, and straight at the majestic backdrop of the Sexten Dolomites.

And to be completely honest: we love this location with all our hearts!

Of course, we make no secret of it: the path to our door leads a little bit uphill.

From the village center, it’s just a short seven-minute walk to reach us, or about two minutes by car.

Granted – on foot, your legs might have to work a little bit. But a little effort on holiday should be rewarded, shouldn't it? 😉

A short climb, an overwhelming panoramic view

When reading through our guest reviews, we often have a little smile to ourselves.

A lovely guest recently wrote that the short incline wonderfully helps to "stay in shape while on vacation." 😂

That’s exactly how we see it! Our hotel is situated on a sunny south-facing slope –

which is precisely why we enjoy total peace and quiet, endless sunshine, and an unobstructed view across all of Sexten up here.

As soon as you return to the hotel after a relaxing stroll, step out onto the balcony, and breathe in the crisp mountain air, every meter walked is instantly forgotten.

At the latest during an evening aperitif overlooking the world-famous Sexten Sundial, you’ll surely think to yourselves: What were seven minutes after all?

Peace and wide perspectives: A holiday above everyday life

Our hillside location gives you something that is often missing in everyday life: genuine relaxation away from passing traffic.

Up here, your holiday can instantly slow down a gear or two.

You are close to the action, yet elevated comfortably above it. Just a few minutes' walk separates you from the village center –

and yet, being here feels like being in a peaceful little oasis in the Alta Pusteria valley.

Effortless winter holidays: Our private ski shuttle

In winter, by the way, you can completely forget about the walk uphill!

Our hotel's private ski shuttle takes you comfortably straight to the Helm cable car valley station in the morning – and brings you safely back to the hotel after a great day on the slopes.

This way, you can click into your skis effortlessly without starting the day with a mini mountain run. We’d rather leave that to the professional athletes. 😉

Summer in the Dolomites: Mountains right on the doorstep

In summer, the walk up to our hotel often becomes the perfect prelude to your day of hiking.

Whether you are returning from a long tour through the Sexten Dolomites or setting off right from our front door in the morning: nature starts right here.

As the saying goes: the journey itself is part of the experience.

Why we would choose our hillside location again and again

For nearly five decades, our hearts have belonged to this special spot.

Our family didn’t choose this location by chance: it’s this unique blend of stunning views, cozy warmth, and closeness to nature.

Of course, we can't flatten the mountain for our guests – and quite honestly, we wouldn't want to!

Because when the last evening light touches the peaks of the Dolomites and bathes the valley in a soft red glow, we know exactly why this place is simply priceless.

Sometimes you just have to take a few steps to reach the top. 😊

We look forward to welcoming you!

Your Gruber Family ❤️
